A Letter from Chairman Clare Bayman - April 2021
Dear choir members,
I hope that you are all well and looking forward to some semblance of life again in what will be our new normal!
I have spent a lot of the second (or was it the third?) lockdown thinking about Corsley Festival Choir and its future beyond Covid.
Our last concert was a triumph and the choir was looking forward to the future. Little did we know……….
Having had discussions with the committee we have sadly decided that it is the right time for Corsley Festival Choir to ‘rest on its laurels’ and revert to its original roots, where its role was to provide a few adults to augment the Corsley church choir for festivals and special services.
We will have a sum of money left after settling final payments and the choir’s constitution states 'in the event of the Society being wound up, any assets remaining upon dissolution after the payment of the proper debts and liabilities shall be transferred to a charitable institution(s) having similar objects to those of the Society'.
Our objects are defined as ' to promote, improve, develop, and maintain public education in and appreciation of the art and science of choral music in all its aspects by the presentation of public choral concerts and for the general purposes of such charitable bodies or for such other purposes as shall be exclusively charitable as the committee shall from time to time decide'.
If anyone has a request or suggestion as to where the monies are distributed, do please contact me. We will discuss the merits at our next committee meeting and advise our final decisions.
I am sorry to have to impart this news and would like to thank you all for your support over many years.
For anyone who would like to continue to sing with Edward he would love to welcome you to join The Harry Ensemble. We meet once a month in a workshop style day with a UK concert followed by a tour abroad in the autumn each year. Let me know if you are interested and visit www.harry ensemble.co.uk
With very best wishes and hope you all stay safe
Chairman, Corsley Festival Choir
